Rewind: Solomon Adufuh

We visited the studio of Ghanian artist, Solomon Adufuh, who has made a home in Chicago for almost a decade, and is making waves internationally with his larger than life, vibrant portraits of African people to create a conversation and change the narrative around African culture. Instead of images of war, and famine, through visual storytelling, Adufuh’s paintings speak to the vibrancy of his cultural roots juxtaposed against his American life, intertwined with history, and everyday people. Through his own research and study, he taught himself the basics of fine painting, and through much travel and teaching in his hometown in Ghana, he has brought to life his calling, and empowered his people, one portrait at a time.
